If you ever have a question about LeanTec, Chuck’s your guy. As one of the main designers of our software, he knows how it all works together and can trouble-shoot most tech problems. Chuck has a great sense of humor and is one of those rare people who functions from both sides of the brain—the technical/logical side and the creative side. Read the interview below to see what I mean.

1. What are your day-to-day responsibilities?

Every day I proactively ensure that all LeanTec services are running and functioning as intended both for our customers and LeanTec’s internal networking needs.  If a user has a question or concern with the software, scanner, or cabinets, I handle those support requests.   In addition, there are many other things that go on behind the scenes.  We’re constantly striving to better our products, and I’m always working on modifications and improvements with the software development team.  Without a great team, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

2. What drew you to LeanTec?

I’ve been with LeanTec even before it had a name.  When I was working in the collision repair industry, I saw the desire of shops to control their costs and profits.  Material was being either under or over-ordered — or worse — product was sometimes walking out of the shop.  We were being asked by the shops to “fix” this issue.  After a few trials, LeanTec was born.

3. What do you like most about your job?

There’s always something new:  a new customer, a new feature, or some new circumstance from which to learn and build.  I don’t like repetitive tasks, so this position keeps me “on my toes”.

4. What are some of the challenges in your job?

In technology, there are so many variables—it’s not just “what you’re doing, but how you’re doing it” type of thing.  Each support call is unique, and while there’s a troubleshooting process, you have to look for things out of the norm.  Some of those variables are extremely hard to find, and it can be challenging.

5. Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Most of the time, you’ll find me working around the house or just enjoying life with my family.  I play guitar, paint, and am an amateur photographer.  If it’s artsy or science driven, I probably like it.

6. Tell us about your family.

I’m married to an awesome woman named Cassandra.  Together we have two children: Greyson and Norah.  Cassandra is from central TN, and I’m originally from northwestern Indiana.

We love living in the greater Nashville area and would never live anywhere else–although if the chance to move to Maui became available, we’d reconsider.

7. People would be surprised if they knew:

I can start a Boeing 737 if the captain ever forgets.  Knowledge is power.

8. What’s on your bucket list?

  • I want to go to every continent at least once — except Antarctica. Other than the fact that no wasps inhabit Antarctica, I see absolutely no reason to go to a place that’s so cold. Visiting 6 out of the 7 continents is fine by me.
  • I want to rid the world of any wasp-like creatures for the benefit of all humanity.
